What is Hypnotherapy and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH)?

Hypnotherapy is a combination of psychotherapy (talking therapy) and hypnosis that helps you make positive changes by working with your subconscious mind. It's a powerful way to address a wide range of issues, from anxiety and stress to performance blocks.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a modern, empowering approach that combines psychotherapy, hypnosis and the latest neuroscience research. It's a forward thinking approach that focuses on the future you desire and not your past. We won't spend time dwelling on the root cause of your problems. Instead, we'll work together to help you build a clear, positive path forward, focusing on the solutions you want to create to achieve your goals.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is nothing like you see in the movies. It is a completely natural state of mind you experience every day. Also known as a trance, it's a state of focused attention, similar to the feeling you get when you're completely absorbed in a movie or a book, running, or driving a familiar route. We naturally go in and out of this relaxed state many times a day. Once in a trance, your subconscious mind becomes receptive to positive suggestions. This helps to dissolve limiting beliefs and unwanted behaviours, allowing for positive and lasting change.
During a hypnotherapy session, you are always in complete control and fully aware of your surroundings. It is not mind control, and you cannot be made to do anything against your will.

Is Hypnotherapy safe?

Yes, hypnotherapy is a very safe and relaxing experience. It is a non-invasive therapy that works by engaging your mind's natural ability to create change. You will remain in complete control throughout the session and cannot be made to do anything against your will. Many clients find a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session to be an uplifting and enjoyable experience.

Will I have to talk about my past?

You may be pleased to know that we don't need to talk about your past. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a forward-looking therapy, which means we won't need to analyse or dwell on past experiences. Instead, our focus will be entirely on the future and on moving you toward the solutions you want to achieve your goals.

What happens during a hypnotherapy session?

A typical session with Mindstar has two parts and lasts for approximately 1 hour. The first part is the psychotherapy part, where we focus on the positive and good things in your life, no matter how big or small. We’ll discuss how you feel now and what your future might look like as we work together to build a clear, positive path forward.

The second part is the hypnosis, or trance, part. This is where I'll gently guide you into a deep state of relaxation. In trance, your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to the positive, solution focused suggestions we discussed earlier, helping you to move towards your goals.

How long will it take to see changes?

Every client is different but because our approach is solution-focused, many clients begin to see and feel positive changes after just a few sessions. While most clients achieve their desired results in 8 to 12 sessions, some may need more or less. Your commitment to the process is key and will help you achieve your results sooner. In fact, some clients feel positive results as early as session one.

Where will the sessions take place?

All of our sessions are conducted securely online via Zoom. All you need is a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection and a quiet space where you can relax. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions and offer the convenience and comfort of having your therapy from home or any other private space.

What happens if I miss an appointment?

I know that life can be unpredictable, and I'll always do my best to accommodate your needs. To ensure we can both be as flexible as possible and to respect our time together, I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
This means if you need to cancel or reschedule, please give me at least 24 hours' notice. This allows me to offer that reserved time to another client. Missed appointments or late cancellations may be subject to a fee. In return, I promise to give you the same 24 hours' notice if I ever need to reschedule our session.
